Will soft washing damage my siding?
No. It runs at about garden-hose pressure, so there's no forcing water behind the siding, no blowing out caulk, and no stripping paint the way high pressure can. The cleaner does the work, not the nozzle.
How often should I wash my house in Michigan?
Every two to three years for most homes here. A heavily shaded lot or a house under tree canopy is closer to every one to two years, because it holds moisture and grows algae faster.

What soft-wash house washing actually does
Soft washing cleans your siding with chemistry, not force. We apply a biodegradable surfactant solution at low pressure (roughly garden-hose strength), let it dwell long enough to kill the organic growth at the root, then rinse. The result is a wall that's genuinely clean — not just blasted — and it stays clean longer because the algae and mold are killed, not just knocked off.
That green and black film on north-facing walls isn't really "dirt." It's living organic growth — algae (commonly Cladosporium) and mildew that thrive on shaded, humid surfaces. West Michigan's humidity and tree cover give it everything it needs. Rinsing it with plain water or a pressure washer leaves the spores behind, so it comes back fast. Soft washing kills it.
On a typical house wash we remove:

Why not a pressure washer?
High pressure (2,000+ PSI) and house siding are a bad match. The force can drive water behind vinyl and lap siding, blow out window caulking, etch softer surfaces, and lift or peel paint. Is it safe for plants and pets?
Yes — that's the whole point of the method. We pre-wet landscaping and grass before we start, apply at correct dilution, and rinse thoroughly afterward so nothing accumulates in the soil. Pets are fine once treated surfaces are dry. We walk the property before we start and flag anything that needs extra care.
