Different materials, different methods
Fences aren't one surface. We match the approach to the material:
- Vinyl — low-pressure soft wash with a light surfactant. The green film on a vinyl fence is Cladosporium, the same organism that greens up siding.
- Wood — careful pressure plus a mildewcide; we can brighten weathered wood the same way we do decks.
- Aluminum / metal — gentle cleaning with attention to any rust or oxidation at fasteners and posts.
Why soft-wash beats blasting a fence
It's tempting to power-blast a fence, but high pressure fuzzes wood grain, can crack older vinyl, and just scatters the algae spores so it returns fast. Killing the growth with the right solution gets a cleaner result that lasts. A wood fence will come back faster than vinyl simply because wood holds more moisture.
Long runs, gates, and aftercare
A fence job is mostly about square footage and access. We quote by the run — the linear footage and height, whether one side or both need cleaning, and how much the landscaping crowds it. Gates, lattice tops, and decorative iron take a little more hand-work, and we factor that in.
One thing worth timing right: once a wood fence is cleaned, brightened, and dried, it's the ideal moment to seal or stain it — the same way a deck takes finish best right after a wash and brighten.
